Shirley Vercruysse is a partner in Calgary-based Burns Film Ltd. with writer director Gary Burns. Her first collaboration with Burns was on waydowntown, which won the Toronto City Award for best Canadian Feature Film at the 2000 Toronto International Film Festival and was named the best Canadian Film of 2000 by the Toronto Film Critics Association. In 2003 she produced Gary Burn's A Problem with Fear, which opened the Perspective Canada section of the 2003 Toronto International Film Festival as well as the Panorama Special section of the 2004 Berlin International Film Festival. In 2006 Shirley produced Radiant City, a feature documentary written and directed by Gary Burns and journalist Jim Brown. Radiant City opened at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival, was named one of Canada's Top Ten Films in 2006. Shirley's additional credits include; "spiritual advisor" - a.k.a. consulting producer - on the cult hit Fubar; consulting producer on A Simple Curve, (2005); and producer credits on Comeback Season (2005) and The Oldest Basketball Team in the World (2006); Executive Producer of Immigrant, (2006) and producer of The Secret of the Nutcracker, (2007).
